So, those of you who occasionally pass by are probably wondering now (after a 7 day wait), "Larry, you sorry sack of absolute AWESOME, what have you been up to lately?" Well, to answer your question, let's try using some of the new and neat plug-ins that I put into this blog!
To start off with, I've been working. Yeah, I know, "tell me something I didn't already know." Well, the projects I am working on (yes, projects...with an 's') are coming along nicely. Sorry I cannot say anything about them, but suffice it to say that I have been learning more and more about the minor intricacies of drafting, rounding, and chamfers in Inventor. Fun times all around!
Outside of the projects at work, as some of you may have known, I was having trouble getting my prescription here in Japan. Well, that problem is in the past now. While I am not able to get the exact same medication, I am able to receive a substitute. And that is all I will say on that.
I think I am starting to get used to life here. As the days go by I am slowly learning how to cook with what is available on what is available (read: ONE induction heating pad).

how vague. you may as well have just said.
"i've teamed up with an underground branch of the government, and if i say anything involving what i do, exploding ducks will fly into my residence. so i'll just let you guess on what i do. i will say this, it involves stuff".
Nick has a point. But! you're finally cooking stuff that isn't american food? finally!? Also, how's Bee doing? lastly, how many times per day do you get mistaken for a bear?
Well, they are technically geese, not ducks. As for what I do, it involves working on and designing fiber optic connectors and associated devices, (aka, interfacing with optical cable).
"Cooking", yeah. We'll just go with that word for now. My "cooking" involves taking a microwavable meal and putting it in the microwave, then pressing the number 9 button (labeled atatame), then pressing start and letting it run until it stops. There seems to be some sort of sensor that stops it, because it will not always run for the same length of time.
As for being mistaken for a bear, I have yet to go around without my shirt on, so...none.
Bee, he's doing pretty good. Not freaking out any more. He seems to be settling in finally.
I may be headed to Niigata Prefecture later in the year for a plant tour. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have any time for visiting, but I might try to factor in some extra space in my bag for kaiju goodies.
